Men's Team into Championship Bracket at Slug 7's

Severn River Men's 7's team faced off against a tough bracket of competition in 100 degree heat at the Slug 7's Qualifier in Columbia, MD on Saturday. After superb play and ball control throughout the morning, the men found themselves 2 - 1 in pool play and qualifying for the Championship Bracket of the Open Division, where they would face off against Arbutian Revolution.

A well fought match, they made good passes and possessed the ball, but found themselves knocking on or losing the ball in attacking contact, allowing the Arbutian Revolution to secure a victory in the knockout quarterfinal round.

The men still had a great day and saw some of the best rugby they've put together this summer, proving that their hard work has paid off. Slug 7's marks the end of Competitive tournament play for our men's side. But they expect to continue skill development with touch 7's on Tuesday and Thursday nights throughout the rest of the summer leading into what will surely be an exciting Fall 15's season.

Men's Team looks to Rookies at Ruggerama 7's

Severn river Men's 7s took on three tough teams in Ruggerama 7's today at Morven Park in Leesburg, VA playing host Nova in the first match of the day and following with Schuylkill River and then rivals Frederick to end the day. They came away with three hard fought matches and some much needed experience from their young players, two of which had never stepped on the 7s pitch before today.

Taking their cues from veteran player and coach, Mike Posko, the men held there own and came away just shy of winning some hardware. Veteran players Erik "Punchy" Dronberger and Dustin Taylor were among the veterans on the pitch today and had to be pleased to see these younger players, the future of the club, put out a great effort.

Look for more good things to come from this crew as we close out the summer season.
