Recap for 2025-2026 Season
2025–2026 Severn River Men’s Season
After finishing the regular season with a 5–1 record, the Severn River men battled through the MAC D3 playoffs, defeating the Washington Renegades to claim the MAC D3 Central Championship, followed by victories over the Potomac Exiles and Virginia RFC to capture the MAC D3 Championship.
The championship earned the men their first opportunity to represent Severn River at Super Regionals in Niagara Falls, joining the Honey Badgers on the regional stage. While the weekend didn't end as hoped, with losses to South Jersey RFC, 41–7, and Providence RFC, 33–17, the team showed tremendous perseverance and dedication throughout the season. Many players battled through injuries, while countless teammates stepped into bigger roles when the team needed them most.
The results may not have been what we wanted, but the men should be incredibly proud of what they accomplished. The MAC D3 Championship was a major milestone for the program, and the team is already looking ahead to the 2026–2027 season with its sights set on returning to Regionals.
Key Player Spotlight: Thomas Cassasola, Erik “Punchy” Dronberger, Jake Davis, and John Wheelton.
2025–2026 Honey Badgers Season
The Severn River Honey Badgers had a powerful 2025–2026 season built on talent, depth, and one united club. Our D2 side completed an undefeated Capital Union campaign and defended its championship with a decisive 34–7 victory over James River.
At the Atlantic Super Regionals, the Badgers battled hard but fell to Phoenixville White Horse, 34–22, and Providence, 38–17. It wasn't the ending we wanted, but after another championship season, the Badgers have even more motivation to come back stronger. The weekend was filled with memories, laughter, and a celebration of the unity that makes this club special.
Our D3 Badgers were an essential part of the club's success, creating opportunities for new and developing players to compete, grow, and make their mark. The season included an exciting 22–20 victory over the Washington Renegades, highlighting the depth and potential throughout the program.
D2 was led by captains Kale Carter and Katie Marshall, while D3 was led by Catherine “Cat” Giordano and Shay Hall. A huge thank-you goes to our amazing and dedicated coaches Dolla Harmse, Jeffrey “Tiny” Donselar, and Johnethen “Jönñy” Dumond for their leadership and commitment throughout the season.
In 2026–2027, Severn River will officially compete at the D2 level while continuing to grow the sport through D3 developmental matches and special events.
One club. One standard. More opportunities.
The work continues. The Badgers are hungry. 🦡🏉
